Hi, My name is Nerys and I am the Events Co-Ordinator for West Wales Caravan Club, as part of the main committee.

I started my love of caravanning young; my first memory being at an Eisteddfod with my family whilst in primary school…and being so excited in the early morning when I could hear the guy selling Mr Juicy (orange juice cartons for those of you too young to recall them) getting closer…they were a real treat ..and ice cold too! The western mail wasn’t quite as exciting to buy, but it guaranteed him calling to the door!

My sister then ended up living in a static on my parent’s farmyard temporarily before getting married and moving to a renovated house….the static however stayed and I spend a lot of time pretending it was then mine instead – the snooker table got moved in there, so I mastered the game quite well having spent so many hours determined to beat my siblings. Being the youngest of 4, I thought I had a lot to prove !

I am a country girl at heart, having grown up on a farm – I love being out in nature, especially woodland walks – you will see me tending to scurry to the shade rather than out sunbathing on a beach – sadly, I have that skin that likes to burn to a crisp rather than tan beautifully !

My husband Brian was a rally goer as a child which was a huge bonus as it meant we could embark on our own family rallying journey, with our son Oliver who is 6 years old (nearly 7 as he tells me daily!) – he absolutely loves being away in the caravan and it has been lovely to see him starting to interact with other children as we expand the rallies we attend and begin to get to know everyone better.

My journey on the committee started last year following the AGM – I have been working hard in the background to re-establish and merge some of the sub committees to form a main Events sub committee instead. If any of you are able to offer any suggestions, or feel you could put your name down onto the events committee, please do so. It doesn’t mean you are forced to help at every event, it just means that when you are free, you are someone we can approach to see if you can offer support.

For those of you that attended Pembrey at Easter, you will have had a glimpse into some of the family themed events – I am keen to bring back a focus on families and children – they are the future and as most parents out there will agree, if the kids are happy then so are the parents !

Don’t worry though – the social and sporting events aren’t going anywhere…and neither is the bingo, cribbage or play your cards right !

A bit of something for everyone hopefully.

Please come and say Hi if you see me on a rally field. My contact details are also on the website if you want to find out more about anything event related for the future, or get involved.

Best Wishes, Nerys
